Retreat programmes

Retreat programmes have proved to be a very popular and extremely productive aspect of the Waverley offering. Executives come to Waverley Abbey House in order to stand back and take stock of their professional lives in peace and quiet.

We have been running our Leadership Retreats for over five years now with outstanding results. "I left with my questions fully explored and a clearer vision for the future." : (Senior Partner in a top Law Firm)

This 2x2 day modular retreat will transform personal leadership impact and efficiency. The first retreat is all about purpose, presence and impact. This enables people take stock of their priorities, access their personal vision and express these clearly in their relationships and plans. There is then a gap of six months, during which time people pursue their plans (with mentoring from the Waverley team).

The second retreat is all about character, credibility and change. People are challenged to look at the ways they learn from their experience, and to explore the emotional dimension of their leadership. We help people avoid common leadership blind spots, and to reinforce four leadership virtues: resilience, integrity, generosity and courage. This strengthens people's ability to lead change as an emergent, as well as a planned, process.

The dates of our next No Nonsense Leadership Programme is: 12th, 13th July & 28th, 29th October 2010

This two day residential programme enables people to rediscover, refresh or extend their leadership skills and talents, and to apply these attributes to the workplace. Explored and practised in small group discussions and scenarios, this programme involves examining existing challenges, revealing ACTUAL resources, and dealing with obstacles that are inhibiting leaders' progress.

This retreat provides the rare opportunity to reflect on the pace, ambiguities and demands of modern living in the context of a working monastery. The rhythm and practices of this ancient retreat are experienced as a counterpoint to the distractions of modern living; this contrast provides a sense of perspective and a ‘reservoir' of inner calm that leaders can apply to their workplace in a positive way.

The dates for our next Contemplative Retreat  are 16th & 17th Nov 2009

This retreat helps executives focus on what we call ‘threshold questions'; these are those far-reaching and often complex questions that we all face at different times in our career. Once addressed however, they can lead to a significant breakthrough in performance.

The truth is that the lifestyles and punishing schedules of senior leaders in global corporations can take a severe toll on personal relationships. This retreat provides a rare opportunity to spend time together in a peaceful, relaxing learning environment. This creates a space for couples to communicate openly, honestly and profoundly, to refresh their relationships, and to agree on their mutual priorities.

The dates for our next Couples Retreat are 23rd & 24th April 2009.

Substantial discounts are available for not-for-profit organisations, or individuals funding their own attendance. For those that are unable to afford our Executive Programme, we support a charity of volunteers who run these programmes at minimal cost called the Crossroads Retreats (www.crossroadsretreats.co.uk). We sometimes also run pilot programmes at cut price rates for those willing to help us evaluate these.
