Senior Women's Retreat

Enhancing Impact  - A retreat programme for executive women

20 - 22 January 2010

This unique event for senior women provides them the opportunity to explore current leadership thinking and to reflect on their own priorities, style and impact, particularly during these demanding and turbulent times. It is for women who have 10 years + experience and are currently in a senior role.

.

Many organisations are facing unprecedented challenges as the much-reported shockwaves from the financial crisis continue to impact business dynamics within the UK and around the globe.  Many organisations are currently restructuring, refocusing and readjusting their strategic plans in order to survive and remain competitive.  This is heightening the need for strong, resilient and impactful leadership

This executive retreat is designed to provide an opportunity for you to take time out from the day-to-day demands to reflect on your own leadership style and priorities against the backdrop of these turbulent times.  In collaboration with other senior women, this retreat will enable you to consider how you might enhance your leadership approach to increase your personal impact and contribution.

Through case studies, focused lectures, group discussions, exercises and personal reflection, you will explore ways that you can further cultivate your unique talents, strengthen your leadership focus, and more effectively integrate the key aspects of your lives to achieve a productive and fulfilling balance.

Exposure to current academic thinking and best practice research helps to stimulate debate and provoke new ideas and opportunities.  The retreat also provides opportunity for collaboration with other senior executive women from a range of industries whilst also providing some time for personal reflection in an attractive and calm environment.  Participants can share views, experiences and insights, and develop a potential network of individuals committed to personal development and learning.

What are the critical challenges I am currently facing?  The retreat will consider the current economic environment and its impact on organisations and individuals with a particular focus on the personal leadership challenges and opportunities that it presents.

How can I leverage my unique talents to enhance my personal impact?  And what can I learn from others? With some thought-provoking perspectives on leadership from the academic world and with engaging discussion among participants, you will have an opportunity to consider how you are meeting your current challenges.  We will explore individual, unique talents and how you might want to focus your talents to enhance your current approach.  We will also be considering the wider aspects of a woman’s life – home, work, community, self-development – and explore ways of integrating these aspects to achieve greater fulfilment and increased contribution. There will be an opportunity for you to participate in an active-learning session entitled ‘finding your voice’ with a trained actor and voice coach who will provide insight into how you can strengthen your communication effectiveness.

What will I do differently? There will be exercises to challenge your thinking and time set aside for you to personally plan the actions you want to implement.  The aim is that you will leave the retreat feeling refreshed and armed with ideas and a plan to make some changes that will take your performance to a new level.

The date for the next programme is 20 - 22 January 2010, Wednesday afternoon to Friday afternoon and it will be held at Rushton Hall.  Places on this programme are limited to 15, so please book by 4th January 2010. The cost of the retreat is £1250 including accommodation, meals and materials.

The Retreat is facilitated by Belinda Smith of Waverley, Janet Windeatt of Windeatt Consultancy and Alison Coulter of MCA
